LG and Mo-Sys entered into a partnership
LG Electronics (LG) announced that it has acquired a stake in Mo-Sys Engineering (Mo-Sys), a market-leading developer of virtual manufacturing solutions and camera robotics. The strategic early-stage investment and partnership expands LG’s capabilities in the virtual production and broadcast technology segments and enables the company to provide a more comprehensive offering of sophisticated hardware and software-based solutions.
Previously focused exclusively on the film industry, virtual production studios are becoming increasingly popular among television broadcasters, as well as companies and educational institutions that want to create their own content. Using a wide range of advanced technologies, including large LED screens, camera tracking, LED controllers and media servers, virtual production spaces have brought a new dimension – and a wealth of new possibilities – to the art of visual storytelling.
Known for its market-leading display technology, LG has already set foot in this growing segment, providing its Micro LED and LED screens for both virtual reality (VR) studios and augmented reality (XR) spaces. Through the recently signed strategic partnership with Mo-Sys, LG will offer more complete solutions for virtual production and XR studios. Thanks to the partnership, the two companies will be able to effectively support customers who combine LG LED displays and controllers with Mo-Sys XR products and systems, i.e. they want a complete solution for creating VR and XR content.
