The handbrake is on
A bill has been proposed in Parliament that would strengthen the bargaining position of suppliers and would limit detrimental conditions (buying back obligation of suppliers, long payment deadlines, etc.) set by retailers. At the same time, GVH thinks that the problems could be solved by sectorial codes of ethics. Meanwhile, the handbrake has been put on for the bill as the president of Hungary, László Sólyom did not approve of the bill and sent it back to Parliament. The law would impose fines from HUF 100,000 to HUF 500 million for unfair market conduct by retailers.
