Tomato, pepper: Hungarian instead of import
It is of key importance for Hungarian tomato and pepper growers to use reliable technology and produce constant good quality – better than their international competitors – if they want to make a living; the other way to make progress is to persuade Hungarians to eat more tomatoes and peppers, as we hardly it half of the Italian annual average of 30kg/person – we learned at the trade event in Szentes, organised by Syngenta and Árpád Agricultural Zrt. At the moment tomato is grown on 410 hectares and pepper is produced on 1,000 hectares in Hungary. Tomato yield is 10-55kg/m² and pepper yield is 10-25kg/m². Syngenta offers efficient products to farmers for protecting plants from diseases and pests
