Bottle return from home: Kifli.hu customers received 300 million forints back
Customers returned more than 6 million beverage packaging in 2025 through Kifli.hu’s home-delivered bottle return service, for which they received a total return fee of over 300 million forints in the form of redeemable credit. There was a customer who returned thousands of bottles this way in one year.
Kifli.hu’s door-to-door bottle return solution allows customers to hand over empty bottles and boxes to couriers from their home when their order is delivered. In 2025, customers returned a total of 6,030,368 pieces of beverage packaging using the service, the total value of which exceeded 301 million forints.
Last year, Kifli.hu customers returned an average of 16,500 bottles and cans per day, but on the busiest day of the year, nearly double that number was returned to circulation: on December 30, 2025, customers returned a total of 32,706 pieces of beverage packaging. The strongest month was December, with nearly 615 thousand bottles and cans returned. The user who returned the most bottles during the year handed over a total of 2,865 beverage packaging to the couriers.
“Our goal is for Kifli.hu to help its customers with services that fit their everyday habits. We introduced the home-delivered bottle return in connection with the mandatory return system, so that return becomes a natural part of home ordering”
– said Szilveszter Sasvári, marketing manager of Kifli.hu.
The online supermarket introduced the home-delivered bottle return service on August 1, 2024 service, which allows customers to hand over empty bottles and cans to couriers at home during delivery. With this solution, redemption can be handled quickly and easily from home: all beverage packaging marked with a 50-forint mark can be redeemed, regardless of the place of purchase. Couriers receive the bottles and cans upon delivery, record them in the system, and the credit is immediately credited to the customer’s account. For customers, this is not a large one-time amount, but if a family saves just a thousand forints per month in this way, it can add up to real savings over time. Customers can indicate at the time of delivery that they would like to hand over redeemable bottles. Due to the delivery capacity, Kifli couriers can collect one bag per address, i.e. a maximum of 10 pieces of undamaged beverage packaging at a time.
“MOHU welcomes commercial solutions that – like Kifli.hu’s home delivery service – support bottle return and make a significant contribution to the efficient operation of the mandatory return system and the circular economy.”
– said Csaba Bozóki, Director of Institutional Waste Management at MOHU.
Door-to-door bottle return not only helps recycle packaging, but also saves customers time and energy. Further information about Kifli.hu’s bottle redemption service and the redemption conditions can be found on the following page: https://www.kifli.hu/targy/kotelezo-visszavaltas
