Coca-Cola opens bottle recycling plant
Atlanta-based Coca-Cola Co. and United Resource Recovery of Spartanburg unveiled a new $60 million “bottle-to-bottle” recycling facility.
The state-of-the-art plant, said to be
the largest of its kind in the world, will produce about 50,000 tons
of food-grade recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic for
reuse per year. Coca-Cola operates similar plants around the world,
including five in Europe, one in Mexico and one in the Philippines.
Coca-Cola makes a multimillion dollar
"Give it Back" global recycling initiative. The company ran
television and radio spots, on-line and on billboards. Also a program
for students is organised on 600 American Universities. Coca-Cola
made a website about company's CSR activities all around the world.
