Cautious easing of measures taken due to FMD in areas outside the restrictions
The veterinary authority has extended several measures, but is now allowing the organization of fairs featuring susceptible animals in areas outside the restrictions. The cautious easing is made possible by the favorable results of recent weeks, but due to the extremely high risk posed by FMD (FMD), the authority continues to ask animal keepers for maximum attention and increased compliance with disease control rules.

According to the decision of the national chief veterinarian, the mandatory confinement of susceptible animals in the protection and surveillance area will remain in effect until May 16, and all fairs and shows featuring animals will continue to be prohibited. In areas under further restrictions, it is prohibited to organize shows and fairs with susceptible animals until May 16. In addition, until further notice, external service providers cannot be used for shearing, nail trimming and other non-daily activities on farms keeping susceptible species.
Based on the favorable results, the authority will allow the organization of fairs presenting susceptible animals in the area outside the restricted areas from Saturday
At the same time, the RSZKF disease continues to pose an extremely high risk for Hungarian livestock keepers. For this reason, Nébih particularly requests maximum attention from livestock keepers and increased compliance with disease control rules.
