Colruyt expands health offering with self-testing kits
Colruyt is launching a new range of self-tests in 175 stores, aimed at the early detection of health problems such as colon cancer. They are sold at the lowest price on the market.
To make healthcare accessible and affordable to a wide audience, Colruyt is launching various self-tests in the parapharmacy category, a sector that is growing at double-digit rates. In addition to colon cancer, the range also includes tests for urinary tract infections, menopause, vitamin D and iron deficiency. The self-tests cost 9.99 euros, which is the lowest price on the market and almost ten euros cheaper than comparable products, the retailer claims, Retail Detail reports.
The chain points out that interest in self-tests has recently increased following public testimonials about the importance of early detection for colorectal cancer. According to Stop Darmkanker vzw, 2,500 people die from this disease in Belgium every year, which equates to seven deaths per day, 90 % of whom are over the age of 50.
“With the introduction of self-tests, we are bringing prevention closer to the customer and want to offer reliable products at competitive prices”, Colruyt’s parapharmacy buyer Thijs Lamote says. In February 2026, Colruyt will focus extra attention on intestinal health with a campaign and a webinar on nutrition for irritable bowel syndrome.
