Women earn one-fifth less than men
In Hungary, women earn 21 percent less than men on average – shows the latest online salary survey of fizetesek.hu, operated by the Workania job portal.
The company told MTI on Wednesday, that the difference develops early when young women starts to work and the largest gap occurs among the 35-44 age group. The Workania recalls that the European Commission a few years ago launched a campaign to fight for equal payments, so the Equal Pay Day is held on the 5th of March every year, a few days before the International Women's Day.
According to the recent results, in Europe, difference is smaller, an average, 17 percent.
Workania’s survey shows that in March 2011, men's average salary in Hungary is 245,000 HUF, while the female rate is 194 500 HUF. (MTI)
