Szabolcs apple harvest decreased to its fifth due to the frost
Last year, 232 thousand tons of apples was harvested in Szabolcs, this year the expected yield is only 46 thousand tons.
Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county gives two-thirds of the country's apple crop. The May frost ruined 80 percent of the crop. Vahal Kálmán, Agri Director of the county's government office told to Kossuth Radio that last year, 232 thousand tons of apples was harvested in Szabolcs, this year the expected yield is only 46 thousand tons. One-third of this will be of eating quality – reports mr1-kossuth.hu.
