Five-star Blue Wave Flags are awarded to the best Balaton beaches
45 beach operators applied for the Balaton beach qualification competition this year, of which Lido beach in Vonyarcvashegy received the highest score, and 28 beaches won the five-star Blue Wave Flag (Kék Hullám Zászló) for the best beaches – it was announced at the award ceremony of the Balaton Association (BSZ) on Thursday in Révfülöp.

Juhász Szabolcs, the professional director of the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ), summarized that in the first four phases of the government’s beach development program launched in 2017, 139 beaches nationwide received 11.6 billion HUF in support, of which 97 were at Balaton, receiving 8.8 billion HUF in funding.
