A five-stop concert series is being held in the Prajdi Salt Plain to boost tourism in the region
A five-stop concert series with the participation of renowned Hungarian and Romanian bands will be held in September and October in the Székelyföld Salt Country to boost the region’s tourism, the Harghita County Government informed MTI on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, the concert series, which will start on September 12, aims to give new impetus to tourism in the region hit by the Prajdi mining disaster, strengthen local cultural life, and extend the tourist season.
The concert series will feature five bands representing different musical styles, thus offering experiences for all ages. On September 12, the Csík band will open the event series, followed by Intim Torna Illegál on September 20 at the Prajdi International Stuffed Cabbage Festival.
On October 3, Subcarpati, a prominent representative of the Romanian music scene, combining electronic music and hip-hop with Romanian folk music motifs, will present their unique soundscape. On October 11, István Pál “Szalonna” and his band will perform at the Sovata Pumpkin Festival. The concert series will conclude on October 17 with a performance by the Bagossy Brothers Company. The specific locations of the concerts will be announced later.
According to the announcement, the events are being implemented with Hungarian state support, in collaboration with local and county partners. The concert series is related to the initiative launched by the Harghita Community Development Association (Visit Harghita) to promote the village of Prajd as an adventure tourism destination.
The Harghita Community Development Association regularly negotiates with tourism entrepreneurs and potential partners in Praid in order to re-appear on the domestic and international tourism map as an attractive, authentic and diverse destination, they wrote.
