The cultivation of GMO-free protein crop should be promoted due to the reduction of EU soy import dependency
Hungary continues to be committed to genetically modified food (GMO) -free food and feed, with the latter aiming to reduce or replace the dependence of the European Union on soya imports, and to encourage adequate growth of GMO-free protein production – Nagy István, Minister of Agriculture said in Brussels at the meeting of the Fisheries Council.
According to a communication of the Ministry sent to the MTI on Tuesday, EU ministers discussed the Protein Plan proposed by the European Commission at its Monday meeting, in which research and innovation programs on protein crops could play a key role. (MTI)
