Autumn summer: destinations where the beach season continues after September

Many people pack their swimsuits at the end of summer, but autumn is also ideal for a holiday on the Mediterranean coast and in more exotic destinations. Due to climate change, the summer months are getting hotter, so the weather from September to November is even more pleasant in many places: the sea is warm, the days are long, and the prices and crowds are more favorable.

In southern Italy (Sicily, Calabria, Puglia), visitors can still expect temperatures of 25–28 °C in September. In Spain, Andalusia is hot in September and October, while the Canary Islands tempt you with a climate of 25–28 °C all year round. The Greek islands and Cyprus – such as Crete and Rhodes – are unbeatable in October, and the sea is also suitable for swimming in November. In Malta, the sea water remains around 22–23 °C until the end of autumn.

The Turkish Riviera awaits tourists in September and October with temperatures around 30 °C. In Egypt (Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Marsa Alam) the climate is most ideal at this time, with the sea around 28 °C. In Dubai and the Emirates, the high season starts in October, while in Morocco (Agadir, Essaouira) there is also bright sunshine.

The advantages of an autumn holiday include smaller crowds, more relaxed sightseeing and more favorable prices. You don’t have to hike, sail or see the city in the summer heat, but you can still relax in sunny, warm weather. The autumn months are slowly becoming the new high season: an ideal compromise between pleasant climate and relaxation.
