Romania’s Mega Image And Profi Rom Food Announce Merger
Mega Image and Profi Rom Food, two Romanian retail banners within Ahold Delhaize, will merge into a single legal entity, effective 31 March 2026.
This strategic consolidation aims to create a more robust and efficient organisation, while preserving the distinct brand identities and operations of each local retailer, the company noted.
The merger is designed to bring benefits to customers, employees, and the local communities, ESM Magazine reports.
By enhancing operational efficiency, optimising resource allocation, and boosting organisational coherence, the merged company hopes to improve product quality, boost support for local suppliers, and provide greater value for Romanian consumers.
Both Mega Image and Profi Rom Food will intensify their focus on developing partnerships with local producers, a core value aligned with the Ahold Delhaize Group’s mission.
In turn, Romanian consumers should benefit from a wider range of fresh, high-quality products at competitive prices.
Additionally, the merged entity will reduce supply chain costs and champion valued local assortments.
Mircea Moga, CEO of Mega Image Romania, said, “This merger represents an opportunity for both brands to remain locally connected to their customers while bringing together their teams, expertise, and shared commitment to the communities they serve.
“By combining our strengths, we can deliver better value to our customers, support local producers more effectively, and strengthen connections in each community we operate in.”
Mihai Spulber, CEO of Profi Rom Food, added, “This decision allows us to put our unique expertise and capabilities at the service of a larger, strategically structured organisation.
“Although we will be part of a unified structure, we know that the individuality and core values of the Profi and Mega Image brands will remain unchanged, and our joint efforts will generate greater impact and increased value for customers and all stakeholders.”
Together, Mega Image and Profi boast a network of 2,700 stores and a workforce of 40,000 employees, catering to customers in over 800 cities and towns across Romania.
The merger will allow the combined entity to better leverage Ahold Delhaize’s extensive international experience and expertise.
