Domestic onion growers have joined forces to continuously have Hungarian onions on the market
Hungarian onion production has fallen significantly since the change of regime, and with the help of the National Chamber of Agriculture, producers are working together to supply domestic onions to a greater extent than the current 50-60 percent. The annual consumption of onions in Hungary is 10-12 kg / person; the Hungarian onion is running out quickly, and for months there is only imports on the market.
The onion working group, under the auspices of the National Chamber of Agriculture, brings together a large part of the domestic onion growers and plays a niche role in making production more efficient and organizing the market. The basic goal is that at what times Hungarian goods are on the market, then they are traded by traders; and to make the Hungarian product more accessible than currently.
