The 3rd Open Markets Day will be held at 22 locations across the country
The Open Markets Day will be held again this year, for the third time, and 22 markets and market halls across the country will welcome visitors on September 19-20, the Market Halls and Markets Cooperation Forum announced to MTI.
This year, 14 markets in Budapest, 3 in Pécs, as well as Szombathely, Hévíz, Székesfehérvár, Miskolc and Győr joined the event, which this time focuses on lecsó, and its main slogan is: “the market as a meeting point”.
Prior to the two-day event, events have been held at several locations since September 11, and in the period following the Open Markets Day, several market halls and markets will continue their relocations.
Among the capital’s locations associated with Open Markets Day are, for example, the Lehel Hall, the Fény Street Market, the Sashalmi Market and the Hunyadi Square Market Hall and Market, as well as the capital markets of Budapest Market Hall Ltd.
At the rural locations, visitors will be welcomed with, among other things, lecsó brewing, a craft fair, a gingerbread and dairy product exhibition, and health screenings.
In the capital, the Autumn Handicraft Fair will open on September 19 in the Great Hall on Vámház Boulevard. The programs of the Great Hall, the Rákóczi Square Market Hall and the Flórián Square Business Center also include guided walks, and the public health screening will be held again on Friday in the Fehérvéri Street Market Hall. A new, public Handicraft and Unloading Fair will open at the Tétényi út Business Center, and the Capital Car Market will welcome visitors on September 20 and 21 with an exhibition of vintage cars and special police cars, among other things.
The Open Markets Day was organized for the first time in 2023 by the Market Halls and Markets Cooperation Forum.
