The Hungarian Food Summit, a food export development meeting that debuted at the 81st OMÉK two years ago, was a huge success, and this year – within the framework of the 82nd OMÉK – it will return on a much larger scale: 70 Hungarian food industry companies will be able to conduct around 3,000 business negotiations with nearly 200 foreign buyers, further strengthening the access of domestic products to the international market.

One of Hungary’s most significant food export development business events is the Hungarian Food Summit, which is organized as a side event of the 82nd OMÉK during the fair. The three-day event is practically a giant, business-oriented B2B meeting, which was attended by 200 international buyers from 36 countries. It is expected that around 3,000 business meetings will take place over the two days, with the negotiations taking place in Pavilion A of HUNGEXPO, in a professionally designed meeting space. The organizers provide participants with not only an efficient business environment, but also quality networking opportunities.

The Hungarian Food Summit offers a unique platform for Hungarian food industry companies to present their products in a professional environment and build direct relationships with their foreign market partners. The event can contribute to strengthening Hungary’s export performance and increasing the competitiveness of the domestic food industry in the long term, said Gergely Giczi, Deputy Managing Director of the Agrármarketing Centrum.

Felkai Beáta Olga

The Hungarian Food Summit contributes to increasing the international prestige of the Hungarian food industry not only with its professional content, but also with its appearance, said Beáta Felkai, Deputy State Secretary for the Food Chain at the Ministry of Agriculture. He added that the food industry players are also important from a national economic perspective, so every opportunity must be seized to ensure that Hungarian products are also present in foreign markets, for which the Food Summit is an excellent opportunity.

The event also pays special attention to ensuring that smaller, emerging exporters are also given the opportunity to introduce themselves. The Hungarian Food Summit community stand at OMÉK provides an opportunity for the Hungarian offer to become visible at the national level, while the participating companies can also appear with their own brands. On the closing day of the program, September 20, a professional conference will be organized for Hungarian companies, which will discuss the current trends, challenges and opportunities of food exports. The half-day event offers particularly useful knowledge to domestic companies interested in global markets.

The Hungarian Food Business Program is a business development and export promotion program operated by the Agrármarketing Centrum (AMC) with the aim of helping Hungarian food companies enter foreign markets and popularizing Hungarian food products internationally. The main pillar of the program, in addition to organizing business meetings and appearances at international exhibitions, is the operation of the digital platform called Hungarian Food Business Catalogue, which already features more than 280 Hungarian companies and nearly 2,600 products in real time, accessible from anywhere in the world.
