Viktor Orbán: we will introduce margin reduction for new products as well, if necessary
The margin regulation must be maintained because people must be protected against unjustified price increases, the prime minister said on Friday in Kossuth Radio’s Good morning, Hungary! program, adding that if necessary, the measure will be introduced for new products.
According to Viktor Orbán’s assessment, the margin regulation, which was previously “unthinkable in Hungary”, works like a “blow in the park”, and has fulfilled the hopes attached to it: the prices of 900 food products have been reduced, and the prices of 420 products in drugstores have become more favorable. He recalled that a margin of 10 percent was set for food products and 15 percent for products available in drugstores.
“That should be enough, anything above that is unjustified price increases”
– he emphasized.
He indicated: Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy was given the task of reducing inflation, and to this end, based on his proposal, the government extended the margin regulation.
He noted:
Márton Nagy is a “determined man”, so if necessary, they will introduce margin reduction to new products.
