Optimistic turnover predictions at Profi in Romania
Delhaize subsidiary has said that it expects turnover in Romania to rise to EUR135 million in 2008 from EUR110 million last year as a result of the expansion of the store chain.
The company's turnover jumped 80%
year-on-year in the first half of 2008, with the nine supermarkets of
the Albinuta brand acquired in mid-2007 from Lithuanian Maxima LT,
generating 20% of the total. Profi will start this month the
rebranding of Albinuta chain, a project which it hopes to complete in
the first quarter of 2009. The retailer also runs 51 Profi branded
stores in the country, the last of which recently opened in Jimbolia,
western Romania, following an investment of EUR 1 million.
