Opten: decreasing number of companies – what can be expected?
Based on OPTEN data, nearly 32,000 companies were closed this year, and the annual decrease, due to nearly 21,000 foundings, is slowly reaching 11,000. The high value of the number of new liquidation and termination procedures and the weak desire to establish companies predict the continuation of the decrease in the number of companies. In the company trend, the number of companies operating in sectors of the national economy with worse performance in terms of GDP is also decreasing.
According to the latest KSH GDP report, there was a 0.9% increase in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. At the same time, compared to the same period of the previous year, the performance of the economy fell by 0.4%. This was mainly due to the decline in industry and market services, especially trade, as well as scientific, technical and administrative activity.
According to OPTEN’s data, the decrease in GDP is also reflected in corporate trends with the continuous decrease in the number of enterprises. We experience this trend throughout the year. Based on the October data, nearly 800 fewer companies operated in the month, which indicates that the annual decrease is gradually approaching 11,000.
