An irrigation demonstration program will start in Mezőhegyes
A national irrigation pilot program will be launched on the 5,500-hectare area used by the Mezőhegyes stud farm, and the government will support the investment by 2022 with 8.5 billion HUF – Lázár János informed MTI on Tuesday.
The government commissioner responsible for the coordination of state tasks performed by the Nemzeti Ménesbirtok és Tangazdaság Zrt. in Mezőhegyes explained that increasing irrigation capacity and making it more modern and efficient is a competitiveness issue in which Hungarian agriculture is lagging behind the EU average today.
