The plants and the animals have suffered the hot weather of the last three weeks. The meat prices are already going up, but fruit that remained small this year can be cheaper.

The fruit growers are in trouble, because the trees that were left without water, stop to increase the size of their fruits and trying to get rid of the crop as soon as possible with rapid ripening as a defense reaction against the warm. According to Mártonffy Béla, president of the Hungarian FruitWeb Fruit Vegetable Interprofessional Organization, this year the size will be smaller. The tiny apples, pears, peaches, plums can not be sold in foreign markets, so this year’s crop is likely to remain Hungary and jam, juice or pálinka will be produced from it.   (by our colleague)
