Traffic at Budapest Airport temporarily halted due to heavy rain
Air traffic has been temporarily suspended at Liszt Ferenc International Airport: Budapest Airport announced that flights have not been taking off or arriving since 10:25 for safety reasons due to freezing rain and extreme icing.
The shutdown was necessary because the weather made the runways and taxiways dangerously slippery. According to the airport, the resumption of traffic depends on the weather and the ongoing runway cleaning.
Budapest Airport recommends that passengers check the status of their flight before departure and contact the airline if necessary. Snowfall and sleet have been making traffic difficult at the airport since Tuesday morning. The highest level of winter preparedness is in effect at the airport, and specialists are continuously cleaning the runways.
