Self-heating plant-based food box wins innovation award
Students from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia and Wageningen University in the Netherlands have won the top prize in the 2024 ProVeg Food Innovation Challenge, with a self-heating, plant-based Hanwoo beef rice box.

The AUD 3,000 prize (approximately USD 1,900) was created for Korean food company CJ Foods, which wanted a plant-based substitute for its rare and expensive Hanwoo beef. The food box contains textured pea protein “beef”, rice and vegetables. //
