Magazine: Fierce competition in the wine markets
AKI data reveals that the production price of wheat was HUF 43,000 per ton, feed wheat’s production price was HUF 41,000 and feed corn cost HUF 53,000 between 15 and 21 June. USDA has recently reduced its global wheat availability forecast by 3.5 million tons for 2013-2014.
FranceAgriMer has been examining the strengths and weakness of the wine sector in 15 countries since 1998. They use a competitiveness index to indicate individual countries’ strength. According to their latest analysis, recent years have brought fierce competition between market players. Italy is the number one in the FranceAgriMer ranking, followed by France and the USA. France has produced more wine than Italy, but the latter has done much better in export markets. KSH data indicates that Hungary’s live cattle export was down 19 percent in January-April 2013 from the level of the same period in 2012; there was no significant change in our import. n
