In Italy, after May, the annual inflation was 0.8 percent in June as well
In line with the preliminary estimate, consumer prices in Italy increased by 0.8 percent year-on-year in June, as in May, the Italian statistical office, Istat, announced on Tuesday as final data.
Based on Istat data, monthly inflation was 0.1 percent in June, following 0.2 percent in the previous month.
According to Istat’s statement, the price of unprocessed food increased by 0.3 percent in June on an annual basis after a 2.2 percent increase in the previous month, in addition to clothing and footwear, furniture and household equipment, transport services, and restaurant and the price increase of hotel services also slowed down.
The price of non-regulated energy products, housing and utility fees, and the price of communication services decreased to a lesser extent than in the previous month on an annual basis in June. The price of processed food (including alcohol and tobacco) rose at an accelerating pace, by 2.0 percent in June after 1.8 percent in May, and regulated energy products also rose in price at a higher rate.
The growth rate of the harmonized consumer price index (HICP), calculated for EU comparison purposes, accelerated to 0.9 percent on an annual basis in June from 0.8 percent in May, and in a monthly comparison it was 0.2 percent in June as well after May.
Annual core inflation excluding unprocessed food and energy was 1.9 percent in June, following 2.0 percent in the previous month.
