Italy will be the guest of honor at the Balaton Wine & Gourmet festival this year
In addition to more than 50 restaurants and wineries of the Balaton region, this year Balaton Wine & Gourmet presents the culinary specialties of Italy on September 6-8. between in Veszprém. During the festival, family programs, free tastings, professional workshops and experience meals by Michelin-starred chefs await those interested.
The aim of Balaton Wine & Gourmet is to present Veszprém and the Balaton region as an independent gastronomic region, as six wine regions, quality gastronomy and vibrant cultural life characterize this area – said the festival’s executive director at the event’s press conference in Budapest on Wednesday.
Zoltán Mészáros added that at the Balaton Wine & Gourmet, announced for the third time, Italy will be the guest of honor this year after Japan and Spain, then Argentina and France, so Veszprém will also host a mini Italian gastro festival.
Gyula Porga, mayor of Veszprém, reminded that the third phase of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program (VEB2023) is taking place in the spirit of heritage, since the aim of many initiatives is to operate sustainably in the longer term.
