Italy will be Anuga's partner country in 2011. From 8th to 12th October 2011, Italian exhibitors will not only present the huge variety of Italian food and beverages but will also impressively demonstrate their expertise and capabilities to the international trade and the food service and catering sector. Thanks to its modern and productive food and drink industry and its internationally renowned and recognised cuisine, Italy represents the perfect choice of partner country for the world's largest and most important food and beverage trade fair.

Nowadays, Italian cuisine doesn't just stand for traditional regional specialities but also for high-quality raw materials and partly processed products, which are extremely important for the world's food industry. This competence when it comes to products is matched by a unique and varied cuisine which is considered the epitome of the Mediterranean art of cooking and culinary enjoyment. Italian food is one of the best-known cuisines in the world. For instance, pizza is such a popular dish that it is loved all over the world, to the extent that Asian countries have even adopted a similar sounding name for the food.

Numerous Italian companies have been exhibiting at Anuga for many years. With approximately 1,000 exhibitors, Italy has made up the largest foreign contingent at Anuga for almost 20 years.

The central presentation platform for the participants from Italy will be Anuga Fine Food (Hall 11.2). Under the direction of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE), a business matchmaking service will be offered, enabling discussions with participating companies from the partner country. There will also be a culinary supporting programme providing visitors with an authentic feel for Italian cuisine and hospitality. Companies will be able to entertain their guests in an Italian restaurant provided especially for the trade fair.

What's more, many Italian companies will also have individual stands at the other trade shows.

With roughly 6,500 suppliers from about 100 countries, Anuga 2011 will present a comprehensive, international spectrum of products for the trade and the food service and catering market. Almost half of the exhibiting companies have indicated that they offer products for the food service and catering market.
