Italian demonstrations for food security
Farmers demonstrated yesterday in northern Italy for safer food. The reason of the demonstration was the blue Mozzarella.
The German imported Pseudomonas bacteria infected mozzarella cheese found by food inspectors about two weeks ago, when it turned blue after contacted with air. In Hungary the case did not cause any particular scandal, but much bigger indignation raised among the Italians, where the bluish product first appeared. Mozzarella is a national dish in Italy. Italians consume 164 million tonnes of it annually – reports szabadfold.hu.
