Italian wine imports makes the living of wine producers harder
Slightly less than the annual average, about 3-3.5 million hectoliters of wine are in the cellars after harvest, while the domestic consumption of wine, according to estimations; are about an annual average of 3 million hectoliters.
The domestic market is under pressure by the growing wine imports. Some of the wineries have chosen cheap Italian wines, instead of Hungarian, in order to avoid the burden of stock. According to the EU's statistical office, the Eurostat; about 400 thousand hectoliters of Italian wine was imported to Hungary. This is a size, that can disturb the domestic wine market – reports Privatbankar.hu., after Népszava.
