Annual inflation in the Czech Republic increased in October
Annual inflation in the Czech Republic rose to 2.5 percent in October from 2.3 percent in September, the Czech Statistical Office announced on Tuesday in Prague.
Consumer prices rose by 0.5 percent in one month in October.
“Consumer prices in October were again largely influenced by food and non-alcoholic beverages, the prices of which increased by 3.6 percent in one year. On a monthly basis, this price increase was 1.1 percent was”
– Pavla Sedivá, the director of the statistical office, pointed out at a press conference.
In a year-on-year comparison, coffee has become more expensive by 25 percent, cocoa by 20 percent, and chocolate and chocolate products by 18 percent – he noted. Milk, cheese, and eggs are 8 percent more expensive than a year ago. Meat has become more expensive by more than 6 percent, and bread and bakery products by 3 percent. Alcohol prices rose by 4 percent, tobacco prices by 6 percent, and beer and wine prices also increased moderately, said Pavla Sedivá.
Restaurant prices rose by 4.4 percent, and commercial accommodation prices by 6.6 percent.
At the same time, clothing prices decreased by 1.6 percent, and footwear prices by 3.3 percent.
In October, the overall price of products increased by 1.3 percent, and that of services by 4.6 percent.
