OKSZ: We will spend during Easter despite the crisis
This year, egg prices increase drastically, thus Easter holiday meals will cost more, but merchants expect that the Hungarian population will spend the same amount as last year.
According to the Monday released communication of the National Trade Association (OKSZ) egg prices increased by 55 percent, compared to the previous year. The reason of the increase is the shortage of eggs in Europe, due to the EU “cage rule”. According to the summary of the EU, egg production reduced by 10 to 15 percent in 2012, this represents a weekly loss of 200 million pices in the Community. (MTI)
