Guests of the restaurants could taste creative and special rabbit dishes in a modern setting.

The program series was followed by a tasting in five Pest County shopping centers on October 17, where customers welcomed the gastronomic experience.

. Experience clearly shows that there is interest in high-quality, creatively prepared rabbit dishes in Hungary, the product council concluded.

The series of events, implemented in partnership with the Rabbit Product Council and the Spanish INTERCÚN, and co-funded by the EU, is the first stage of a three-year campaign aimed at re-establishing rabbit meat as a staple of everyday and festive Hungarian cuisine.

Rabbit meat can be easily incorporated into a healthy diet, is an excellent source of protein, is allergen- and fat-free, easily digestible, rich in vitamins and minerals, and also adapts well to the flavors of Hungarian cuisine.

Hungary is the fourth largest rabbit meat producer in Europe and the second largest exporter in the world, but the product council aims to make rabbit meat an everyday item on the tables of domestic consumers.

According to data previously published by the product council, annual rabbit production in Hungary reaches 3.6 million pieces. Hungarian rabbit meat is sought after on European markets, the export rate of the sector’s production is 90-95 percent, worth 30 million euros per year. Domestic sales are approximately 410 tons.
