Pension vouchers: payment does not work at all cash registers
More and more pensioners have reported that they were unable to redeem their food vouchers at self-service checkouts, and therefore had to turn to traditional checkouts. According to the National Trade Association (OKSZ), however, most robot checkouts accept vouchers, with exceptions only at certain store chains – economyx writes.
According to the OKSZ, a problem may arise if a chain links a special promotion or discount to payment by voucher. This applies, for example, to Tesco, Auchan and Aldi stores – in these cases, pensioners can only use the vouchers at traditional checkouts. In the case of Aldi, this does not necessarily mean a special difference, since there are no self-service checkouts in Hungarian stores.
Lidl also provides special discounts for pensioners, but the chain indicated that payment by voucher also works at their self-service checkouts. According to OKSZ, there is no obstacle to using vouchers at vending machines at other chain stores.
Therefore, retired customers should find out about the rules of the given store in advance to avoid inconveniences at the checkout.
