Hunguest Hotels strengthens its presence with a wellness hotel in Western Hungary

From April, Hunguest Hotels will operate the four-star Gotthard Therme Hotel in Szentgotthárd for 5 years. With the operation of the wellness hotel, Hunguest’s portfolio will be enriched with another strategically important location. With the addition of the 148-room, spa-connected hotel, the hotel chain will expand to 23 members – hotel operator Hunguest Zrt. announced to MTI on Friday.

According to the information published by Opus Global Plc. on the BSE website on Friday, Hunguest made the most favorable offer in response to the call for tenders launched by MFB-Ingatlanfejlesztő Zrt., as the contracting authority, for the 2026-2036 lease of the Gotthard Therme Hotel.

As a result of the procedure, Hunguest Zrt. will operate the hotel that is the subject of the tender for a period of 60 months, which period can be extended by another 60 months.

Hunguest announced that the Gotthard Therme Hotel, opened in 2009, has a direct, covered, heated passage to the Szentgotthárd Spa & Wellness adventure bath, and for hotel guests the room price includes the bath entrance.

Located one and a half kilometers from the Austrian border, the hotel also has extra large, 35 square meter family rooms in addition to superior executive and superior rooms. A 280-person, sectional conference room, a spacious lobby and its own bar await events and corporate team building.

Hunguest Hotels currently operates 21 hotels and nearly 3,600 rooms in Hungary, and is the leading hotel operator in the rural wellness and conference tourism market.

The hotel chain implemented a large-scale development program involving 2,000 rooms between 2020 and 2024, which went down in history as the largest hotel renovation project in the history of Hungary’s tourism. The hotel chain has two hotels on the Adriatic coast, in Croatia and Montenegro, according to their announcement.
