Compaint about the privatisation of Budapest Airport
Commissioner's Office of the Government has made a criminal complaint in the matter of some €85m in damages to the Hungarian state resulting from the failure of the owner of Budapest Airport to make promised investments at Liszt Ferenc International Airport. Budapest Airport was privatized in 2005. The UK's BAA paid HUF 465bn in the transaction and promised to invest a further €260.6m at the airport by 2011. BAA was acquired by Spain's Ferrovial in 2006 and Budapest Airport was sold to Hochtief for €1.9bn in 2007.
