A tracking system follows the movement of illegal tobacco products
A new EU monitoring system came into force on Monday, recognizing the movement of non-legally produced or illegally introduced tobacco products within the EU by means of a unique identifier on each item – the European Commission told.
Vytenis Andriukaitis, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission, said that the new system also ensures that tobacco products meet certain safety requirements, with each package having at least five elements of authenticity. (MTI)
