Hungarian webshops under pressure
Although 80% of domestic webshops still expect growth in 2025, the entry of international marketplaces is putting pressure on them: one-third is already experiencing a decline in sales.

At the same time, nearly one-fifth are calculating with significant growth, according to the joint Large Web Store Survey by Shoprenter and Visa. The biggest problems are acquiring new customers (64%) and increasing purchase frequency (62%). In 2025 the launch of Chinese player Temu in Hungary brought about a spectacular market shake-up: 33% of retailers experienced a drop in sales, due to aggressively pricing competitors.
