Eighty-eight million forints worth smuggled cigarettes were found in a truck near Záhony
About eighty eight million forints worth smuggled cigarettes were found by the financiers of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) in a truck at the Hungarian-Ukrainian border post at Záhony – the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Tax and Customs Directorate told MTI on Monday.
Dávid Zoltán told that the truck from Ukraine was examined with X-ray, but the cargo – pellet-filled bags – was found to be suspicious. When the bags were checked more thoroughly, 75,000 boxes of untaxed cigarettes were found by the financial officers. NAV seized the tobacco and initiated criminal prosecution against the driver.
