For the eighth time, the Villány wine region is organizing a professional conference and public tasting focusing on the Cabernet Franc variety.
As a sign of the unity of the Villány wine region, the first Franc & Franc international conference and tasting day was born in 2015, when for the first time the Villány wine region hosted cabernet franc producers from the Loire and their wines. In previous years, all major European and New World Franc-producing regions were able to present themselves at the professional event that places the variety at the center, those who believe in the Cabernet Franc variety and make wine from it independently.
On November 24, 2023, the Franc & Franc event will take place for the eighth time, where the “Mediterranean feeling of life”, i.e. Villány, will be the main character in addition to Tuscany.
The meeting will be hosted by the conference room of the Bock Winery in Villány. It can almost be said that it is a tradition that the forum’s lectures start with some exciting professional experiment. This year Dr. In the joint presentation of agricultural expert Stefano Dini, Tuscan winemaker Emiliano Falsini, and Ruppert Ignác, managing director of Cellarius Kft., the ripening potential inherent in the variety is examined by comparing 3 Villány and 3 Tuscan Cabernet Francs.
The highlight of the morning is the tasting of the TOP 12, i.e. the 12 Cabernets and Villányi Francs chosen as the best – the wines will be presented personally by the producers themselves, moderated by international wine academic András Horkay. After that, emphasizing the role of wines in gastronomy, Gianni Annoni, the owner of the Pomo D’Oro restaurant, illustrates the “flavors of the south” with Tuscan and Villány appetizers and their associated wines.
The Mediterranean feeling of life continues during the afternoon program, firstly in the joint performance of Peter McCombie MW and Simone Tacconi, where the Tuscan cabernet francs are served. Afterwards, the guests can once again listen to Stefano Dini, who introduces the general public to the secrets of the professional evaluation of oils (primarily olive and grape seed). At the end of the Forum, renowned experts and winemakers will share their opinions on the topics discussed at the Forum in a round table.
