Annual inflation in the Czech Republic dropped to eight percent
Annual inflation in the Czech Republic dropped to 8 percent in July from 9.7 percent in June, the Czech Statistical Office announced on Thursday in Prague. In a monthly comparison, prices were 0.5 percent higher in July than in June.
“In July, the growth of consumer prices continued to moderate. This was primarily due to food prices. The increase in the price of food was 9.5 percent in July. So the slowdown in the price of food continues. Compared to June, the prices of food decreased by 0.8 percent”
– pointed out Pavla Sedivá, director of the statistical office.
Lower inflation was last measured in the fall of 2021 in the Czech Republic. Before that, however, inflation in the Czech Republic was always well below ten percent for more than ten years.
