EP committee supports eight Hungarian energy investments
The European Parliament’s Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee discussed the list of energy projects of common interest (PCI) supported by the EU at its meeting on Thursday. András Gyürk, a Fidesz MEP and member of the Patriots’ faction, announced in a statement sent to MTI that the list includes eight investments to be implemented in Hungary, which is an important result. These projects will increase the security of our country’s energy supply and can contribute to maintaining the reduction of utility bills.
The project list compiled by the European Commission every two years contains energy infrastructure investments that may receive EU financial, licensing and technical support. The new PCI list mainly includes power grid developments and projects enabling hydrogen production and carbon dioxide transport, the Hungarian EP representative explained.
Eight Hungarian investments were also included in the latest list. “These include strategic initiatives such as the construction of the electricity transmission line between Debrecen and Oradea, the development of the Hungarian hydrogen transmission pipeline system, or the Selena distribution electricity network project to be implemented jointly with the Czech Republic and Slovakia“
– he pointed out.
