Food prices increasing steadily for eight years
The price of food exponentially increased between 2002 and the end of 2010: the global food price index of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) increased by 139 percent to 215.4 points during this period.
The process accelerated in 2010, and only in the second half of last year food prices increased by 29 percent, for example; sugar and cereals such at a record extent with 61 and 46 percent. The milk and meat prices increased only moderately – reports ProfitLine.hu.
