Winning pair
Last year young confectioner Nikoletta Tapaszti finished 13th at the WorldSkills contest in Calgary. Her aid was László Mihályi, who now prepares her for the Junior Confectioners’ World Championship in February. We asked them about competing and plans for the future. Q: How did it all begin? TN: I started competing in Hungary quite early and with quite good results. Q: How was the contest? ML: 22 hours were available in 4 days for the participants to make a 10-slice cake, 4 types of mini dessert, marzipan and chocolate figures and bonbons. TN: Before the contest I was a bit nervous, but while working I forgot all about it. Q: Could you have achieved a better result? ML: Niki did her job really well, but she committed mistakes with several modules – perhaps she could have concentrated a bit better. TN: Unfortunately it is absolutely true. Hopefully in February I will do better! Q: Will the world championship in February be different? What result do you expect? ML: I would be really glad if she finished 8-10th. I think Nikoletta is talented, this is why I will employ her in my confectionery.
