NTAK: tourists flock to the World Athletics Championships in Budapest
Almost 340,000 guest-night reservations have already been accepted by Budapest accommodation providers for the duration of the World Athletics Championships, according to data from the National Tourist Information Center. The organization told which countries most people come from.
Based on the data of the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK), more than 70 percent of the accommodation was booked by foreigners between August 19 and 27.
“Most of the people are coming from the same places, mainly from Germany, Israel and the United Kingdom, but there is also significant interest from Italy and Spain, and a larger number of guests are also expected from Argentina, Australia, the United States, India, Canada and China.”
– indicated the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) in its announcement sent to MTI. The majority of both foreign and domestic guests booked accommodation in 4- and 5-star hotels, they added.
