Sainsbury’s launches private label plant-based tea bags
UK retailer Sainsbury’s has announced: from June 2021 it will introduce a plant-based material for its private label tea bags. The tea bags will be made of PL A (polylactic acid), a renewable plant-based material that is industrially compostable, unlike the current oil-based plastic tea bags. Sainsbury’s plans to introduce the new plant-based material in more than 815 million tea bags a year.
