Metro has increased the number of its stores
Last year, the Düsseldorf based Metro Group’s sales decreased by 0.8 percent to 66.7 billion euros, its after-tax profit decreased by 2.1 percent to 741 million euros.
To the results, the weaker-than-expected Christmas sales, the simplifying of the German Cash & Carry chain and the selling of the Saturn stores in France also contributed.
Until the end of the year, the number of Metro supermarkets increased by 2.6 percent to 2187, of which nearly 900 units are operated by Media-Saturn division. Metro Group is present in 33 countries, including Hungary. (Világgazdaság Online)
