Growing egg consumption in Hungary: eggs are an increasingly popular staple food
Since the low point of the 1990s, egg consumption in Hungary has been continuously increasing, which is also facilitated by campaigns promoting the product, said Gergely Pákozd, vice president of the Association of Hungarian Egg Hybrid Breeders and Egg Producers, on InfoRádio. Based on the data of the Egg Association and the Central Statistical Office (KSH), it can be established that Hungarians are consuming more and more eggs, reports Infostart.
“Although we have not yet reached the annual consumption level of 300 units before the system change, we are already approaching the level of 250 units per capita”
said Pákozd.
Food and diet trends have a significant impact on the development of egg consumption, which is why the Egg Association tries to inform consumers about the physiological benefits of eggs with targeted campaigns. Gergely Pázozd emphasized that eggs can be an almost complete meal, as they are rich in vitamins, proteins and fats, which contribute to a balanced diet. In addition, the natural packaging of the egg guarantees that the content of the food does not change and does not contain any added substances.
Pákozd also talked about the fact that egg production and trade in Hungary is under strict control, so customers can safely buy eggs anywhere. He added that although there are special egg products where they try to influence the content values by feeding, the choice is left to the taste and habits of the customers.
