Egg packing house prices increased
According to data from the Hungarian Statistical Office, Hungary purchased almost 20 thousand tons of shell eggs from the international market in 2025 (–18 percent compared to the same period of the previous year), of which 22 percent fewer, 16 thousand tons of fresh eggs, were imported. Shell egg exports decreased by 3 percent to 10 thousand tons, of which fresh egg exports amounted to 2.5 thousand tons (+92 percent) in 2025.
According to data from AKI PÁIR, the packing house price of caged table eggs (M+L) in Hungary was 66.71 forints/piece in the first seven weeks of 2026, which exceeded the average price of the same period of 2025 by 3.1 percent. The packing house price of M size-class boxed eggs increased by 5.9 percent to HUF 70.78/piece, while that of L size-class boxed eggs decreased by 1.6 percent to HUF 77.67/piece. The packing house price of M trayed eggs increased by 4.7 percent to HUF 61.50/piece, and that of L trayed eggs increased by 0.8 percent to HUF 65.44/piece. The packing house price of deep-litter table eggs (M+L) increased by 9.1 percent to HUF 77.93/piece during the same period.
