More households buying yoghurt
According to the GfK Hungária ConsumerScan, 84 percent of households bought yoghurt in 2008. The segment of fruit yoghurts produced growth in 2008, while that of natural yoghurt declined. Demand for unflavoured private labels increased spectacularly. The total quantity purchased in 2008 was up by 3 percent compared to 2007, while sales were up by 8 percent in terms of value. Penetration was up by 2 percent, reaching 84 percent. Fruit yoghurt accounted for 80 out of each 100 HUF spent on yoghurt. The market share of private labels reached 25 percent in terms of quantity. Discount stores remained the number one distribution channel, accounting for 29 percent of total sales.
